I believe that we will win.
If you call yourself a fan of the U.S. Men's National Team and you just cringed, shame on you.
The day has finally come. The United States just played a World Cup on foreign soil and all three group stage games were in front of a pro-U.S. crowd. Yeah, I was there in Kaiserslautern in 2006 and it was glorious, but that was only one game and basically just force of will. This was organic and dominant. Listening to the stadium chant "Michael Bradley" to end the first half was amazing.
I believe that we will win.
If you're a fan of the U.S. Men's National Team and you just choked down a call to "drink!", shame on you.
The one thing those of us in the trenches for the last 18-20 years have wanted is dominant coordinated support for the United States. This wasn't choreographed with capos in a pre-sold out MLS stadium during World Cup Qualifying. These games were in Brazil from the coast to the jungle.
If you've ever wanted the masses involved and joining in, but now you find yourself the least bit dismissive or annoyed that they're just on the bandwagon or sell-outs or their choice of chants is lame, the problem isn't them or the chants. The problem is you.
Everybody is welcome. Who cares if they've never seen the team in person and don't know the difference between John Brooks and Carlos Bocanegra. It doesn't matter if they're not sure how stoppage time works or even why many of us were celebrating after a loss.
Embrace them. The bandwagon is what we've worked years to create.
I believe that we will win.
