BBVA Compass Stadium, home of the MLS Houston Dynamo will play host to another high-level soccer match this coming week, an international friendly between Club America and C.F. Monterrey. The game will kick off in Houston on Saturday, January 3 and will feature a powerhouse in the CONCACAF Champions League with championships from 2011-2013 in Monterrey. They aim to continue their winning streak with new head coach Carlos Barra.

Club América, the champions of the Liga MX (Apertura 2014), is fighting for a repeat victory over Monterrey heading into the January friendly. In their last match up, Club América pulled out a 2-0 victory over Club Monterrey, securing their spot as leaders of the league. América have won a league-record 12 titles, while Monterrey has secured four.

Tickets to this game cost an average of $122, according to data provided by ticket aggregator TiqIQ. The cheapest tickets available start at $81 to get in the stadium and see Club America and Monterrey live.

According to Hipmunk, Houston hotels start at $84 per night at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, the cheapest room available near the BBVA Compass Stadium. Houston flights in and out of the city are available from Hipmunk, as well, so check them out to determine all your travel costs.

BBVA Compass Stadium holds 22,000 fans and should contain a great crowd for this game. The last time a soccer match was played at the stadium, it was the hometown Houston Dynamo. Unfortunately for Dynamo supporters, the team failed to qualify for the postseason in 2014, finishing with 11 wins, 17 losses, and 6 decisions in 34 games. That was good enough for 39 points, ten points shy of qualification for the playoffs. Nonetheless, the Dynamo have been a very talented team over the years and have a considerable amount of interest and support in the Houston area. With the team in the offseason, it’s not a big surprise to see high ticket prices for another soccer event as fans wait for the team to resume play.
