Marco Silva and Neil Warnock will come up against each other for the first time when the two sides meet at Goodison Park

Everton could move up to sixth in the Premier League table with a victory against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Toffees are in a rich vein of form and have won four of their last six games in the Premier League, with the only recent slip-ups coming against Manchester United and Chelsea.

Cardiff are also enjoying their best run of the season so far, and have won two of their last four Premier League fixtures.

Last time out Sol Bamba scored an injury-time winner to ensure they beat Brighton 2-1. That result moved them up to 18th, and the Bluebirds could climb out of the relegation zone if they can get a result on Merseyside.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Andre Gomes and Ademola Lookman are all expected to be fit for Saturday’s game, despite being unavailable for their respective countries during the international break.

Sigurdsson did not travel with the Iceland squad due to an ankle issue, while Gomes and Lookman were both sent home early.

Gary Madine is expected to be included in the squad as he steps up his recovery from injury. Both he and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing were on target for the Under-23 side during the international break, but the game has likely come too early for the latter, who hasn’t played since August with a knee problem.

Kenneth Zohore remains unavailable with a calf injury, while Jazz Richards looks unlikely to be fit for selection.

Saturday’s game will be just the third time that Cardiff have travelled to Goodison Park in 55 years, and the Bluebirds haven’t won there since 1926.

When they last met on Merseyside, Seamus Coleman scored an injury-time winner to ensure Everton gained all three points.

Silva may be hoping for a slightly more comfortable afternoon this time around. The Toffees have a good record against the sides near the foot of the table, and have won three out of four this season against the current bottom five.

The Portuguese boss will know how important it is to pick up three points on Saturday with Everton set to play Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham between now and Christmas.

For Cardiff, they know if they are to survive relegation they must continue winning matches, as they did against Brighton.

It is also a crucial time of the season for the Bluebirds, who after their trip to the north west, face just one of the current top half in their next six games.
