Manchester City are reportedly closing in on the the transfer of Sunderland wonderkid Morten Spencer at the age of just 14.
The Premier League champions don’t have the best track record of promoting youngsters over big-name signings, but it seems they could be attempting to change that policy going forward.

There seems to be some pressure on the club to bring in more homegrown talent, and it seems a £200,000 deal for Spencer is now very much on the cards, according to the Sun.
The teenager can play a variety of attacking midfield roles, either centrally or wide on the left, and looks set for a big future in the game.
Of course, it will likely be some time before we see Spencer anywhere near the City first-team, but the club’s fans can be glad to see an effort being made to build for the future around top young English talent.
