Marc Jacobs opened his first London store this week on Mount Street, Mayfair, on Wednesday. The new store, which was formerly an antique shop, will house the full men’s and women’s mainline collections, accessories, homeware, childrenswear and special items, such as union jack surfboards, beach towels and iconic London tees. The window display marked the start of an early spring, with a giant floral bouquet surrounding several mannequins. Jacobs’ team is thought to have bought every flower and stem in London, as the window was full of roses, tulips, daisies and daffodils.
The store, which spans 2,700 square feet, resembles the new Paris boutique, with specially designed brown furniture by Christian Liaigre, plush brown carpeting, marble and wood cabinets and shelving with pearlised backdrops. On Friday evening, Marc by Marc Jacobs will hold its first London show at Claridge’s. “I’ve wanted to show in London for years, and I do think the Marc by Marc line deserves more attention during fashion week. I’d love to show here in the future. Let’s see how it goes this season,” the designed told WWD.
