MOORHEAD, Minn. — Senior Blake Bosch claimed the title at 133 pounds to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team at the Bison Open on Saturday at Scheels Arena in Fargo, N.D. The event was the season opener for MSUM.

Bosch won the title at 133 pounds for MSUM. He pinned Jamestown’s Spencer Sweeney in the opening round in 2:28, and followed with a pin of Doug Filbrandt of Itasca Community College in 1:09. In the semifinals Bosch beat Albert Landeros of North Dakota State, 5-2 and then edged NDSU’s Cam Sykora, 8-6 in sudden victory in the finals. Bosch now has 87 career wins.

Sophomore Adam Blees was third at 174 pounds for the Dragons. He finished the day 4-1 and pinned Michael Lambert of Northland Community and Technical College in 1:32 to take third. Blees topped Mary’s Jonathan Pelach to open the day before losing to Josh Anderson 5-4 in the quarters. He came back with wins over Dragon teammates Mitchell Kotschevar and Logan Rhode before pinning Lambert.

Senior Nader Abdullatif was fourth at 285 pounds after going 2-2 on the day. He pinned Geovany Casco of Northland 1:56 before losing to Daniel Stibral of NDSU in the semis. He came back with a 7-2 win over Minot State’s Jacob Belland before losing to Mitchell Eull of Minot 4-1 in the third-place match.

Freshman Austin Skillings was fourth at 157 for MSUM.

Finishing fifth on the day for MSUM were freshman Aaron Sistrunk at 133, sophomore Kristian Vazquez at 141, senior Isaac Novacek at 157, sophomore Austin May at 184 and freshman Jaxon Seufzer at 197.

Bison Open Results

MSUM will travel to rival Concordia for a dual at 7 p.m. on Friday at Concordia’s Memorial Auditorium.
