SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 16-ranked Augustana wrestling team is set to begin the 2012-13 season on Sunday at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D.

Augustana opens the season ranked 16th in the country by the Division II Wrestling Coaches’ Association.

Two Vikings are currently ranked individually, Nate Herda opens the season ranked fourth nationally at 149 pounds while Jayd Docken cracked the top eight in the individual rankings, coming in at fourth in the 197-pound weight class.

Herda finished 23-8 last season winning the Super Region 3 title and was a first-team All-NSIC selection. Docken finished 20-8 wrestling at 184 pounds a season ago.

Augustana finished 13-3 last season, including 5-2 in the NSIC, which was good for a third-place finish in the final league standings. Augustana went on to finish 10th at the national tournament and qualified seven wrestlers for nationals, three earning All-America honors.

Augustana will compete in four open tournaments before its first dual against Air Force on Dec. 7.
