WWE Hall of Famers Mick Foley and Sgt. Slaughter appeared with Bobby Roode at the Barclays Center on December 12. The appearance was part of the New York Islanders’ pre-game panel, at an event called “Islesmania.”

WWE Superstars often make special appearances at outside sports leagues and the NHL is no exception. However this event in particular seems especially fitting.

That’s because of WWE’s connection to New York. Indeed, Vince McMahon’s company has often been referred to as the company “up north.” Many pro wrestling insiders have referred to WWE simply as “New York.”

WWE has a definite connection to the Barclays Center now as well, as the company uses that venue for some of its biggest events. The Islanders will play the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights following the pre-game.
