Matt Hardy Possibly Ditching the ‘Woken’ Gimmick?, Talks SummerSlam Role
WWE Raw star Matt Hardy has changed his Twitter handle, as seen below. Hardy’s handle used to be “Woken Matt Hardy” to reflect his “Woken” WWE character, but now his Twitter is simply his name.
It’s also worth noting that Hardy commented on being at SummerSlam in a “different capacity”, as he is not expected to be wrestling on the card tonight.
We reported earlier this week that Hardy is expected to be taking time off from the in-ring in order to rehab an ongoing injury. Hardy recently noted on Twitter that his lower back is beginning to fuse with his pelvic bone as a result of performing his signature leg drop for years, and he will be entering a treatment regimen in North Carolina soon.
As for Hardy’s in-ring future, it’s being said WWE has begun to groom him for a backstage role in the company, which is what Hardy could be alluding to in his Tweet below:
