A British Heavyweight title match between Will Ospreay and Doug Williams has been announced for this weekend’s RevPro event.
Ospreay on Twitter posted a picture of the match graphic, writing “Lamb to the slaughter. Come watch Doug’s 2nd retirement match. I’m bringing both belts”. The show will take place at the Manchester Victoria Warehouse in England on August 21.
The news comes as Ospreay made a surprise appearance at NJPW Resurgence this past weekend, declaring that after four months of inactivity due to a neck injury, he was medically cleared. He said he would be staying in New Japan Strong, taking out the IWGP World Heavyweight title he never lost. He said that current champion Shingo Takagi was an interim champion and he would defend his own title going forward.
Ospreay also considers himself the current British Heavyweight Champion, the top title in RevPro. He hasn’t appeared on a RevPro card since November of 2020. Ricky Knight Jr. was awarded the title back in July due to Ospreay’s neck injury.
Williams originally retired back in 2018. However, back in March, Williams announced his return to wrestling, competing for the likes of RevPro and ICW.
