New NXT Tag Team Champions, Moustache Mountain spoke with the British media following their historic Royal Albert Hall victory.
Tyler Bate and Trent Seven were asked how they felt becoming NXT Tag Team Champions and if it was vindication for all their hard work in the past year.
Tyler Bate:
“It just shows that we are not just a part of the WWE UK or NXT UK as it’s now known, we are part of WWE as a whole, we have proved we can branch between.”
Trent Seven:
“NXT UK launching that brand means everything having the opportunity to do it here, we were talking about it last year, we stood in the middle of the ring and confetti came down when he became the inaugural UK Champion now you fast forward a year later and we are stood in the Royal Albert Hall as NXT Tag Team Champions.”
Moustache Mountain was asked what their hopes for the future are now that they are champions, whether or not they will be moving to NXT or sticking about in the UK division.
Tyler Bate:
“I don’t really have any like long-term goals, I just kind of wing it as I go and enjoy the ride but definitely short-term goals were to win the NXT Tag Team Titles and every time we go out we aim to have the best match of the night.”
Trent Seven:
“The curve British wrestling has taken over the last 5 years is great but in the last year, this is just a prime example of just how far we have come. You never get into this to have a cool time, winning titles is what it’s all about, getting paid more money to support your family and moments like this is what it’s all about. So whether it’s here, Full Sail, or Takeover, bring it on.”
The new Tag Team Champions were also asked how things felt backstage, considering that they were sharing the night with many wrestlers they work the indies with,
Trent Seven:
“Last year was very similar, there was a lot of nerves it is a massive stage to be wrestling on and everyone delivered. You fast forward to this year and the quality of the wrestling throughout that final eight was pretty high man.”
Tyler Bate:
“It’s people we see most weekends there is that tight bond and friendship with these people we see week in week out and we also get to go over to NXT in the States and spend time with people like Ricochet so we are in-between.
Trent Seven:
“We have such a great opportunity to learn so much, there are so many great minds in wrestling in the UK and the background of staff all the media people who are helping us become so much tidier in everything we do, not just wrestling. hen we go to NXT and we have Triple H and Shawn Michaels critiquing your performances, come on, you know what I mean? I am watching that main event over Shawn Michaels and Triple H’s shoulder and it’s just the most bizarre situation to be in, what a year.”
