WWE NXT announcer Mauro Ranallo will be the subject of the upcoming Showtime documentary “Bipolar Rock ’N’ Roller”, which premieres on May 25th. The movie chronicles Ranallo’s battle with Mental Health issues, including bipolar disorder and depression.

Jason Day has penned a new article for The Wall Street Journal profiling the new Ranallo movie and also looks at high-profile athletes who have recently come forward to talk about their personal issues with mental health, including Olympic medalist Michael Phelps, NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan, and fellow NBA All-Star, Kevin Love.

Of note in the article is a quote from Ranallo which airs in the movie, immediately after a career-defining moment when Ranallo called the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight.

“Wow, dude, I’m a f—ing prisoner of my own f—ing mind,” Ranallo admitted to movie director Haris Usanovic. “If I can’t appreciate the night, then I’m going to kill myself. I’m done with this, Haris, I’m not doing well, I’m never going to do well.”

Ranallo also spoke out on the benefits of using medicinal cannabis to help treat his condition after experiencing “egregious side effects” with prescription medications.

“The only thing that keeps me alive is cannabis,” he said. He said he never uses it on the air, but finds a puff on a vape to have medicinal value. “To me, it’s not a party drug.”
