SmackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair, recently spoke with Josh Lawless of Sport Bible and she discussed things coming full circle by returning to New Orleans this week. Below are some highlights from the interview.
Charlotte on returning to New Orleans for WrestleMania:
“It’s crazy because I can remember being on stage for Triple H’s entrance and being so nervous and so overwhelmed. Knowing now that I’m heading into the same place as the champion in the biggest match of my career vs someone with a streak, and having been there [New Orleans] and watched the Undertaker’s streak be broken, it’s crazy how life comes full circle and it just goes to show that anything can happen.”
Wanting WrestleMania to be the match of her career:
“I think there are a lot of great matches but the fact that Asuka and I have never touched, we have never been in the ring together, and what she represents – her entrance, her style and her own Japanese legacy vs my legacy – even saying ‘The Queen vs The Empress’, it’s very exciting. I have goosebumps sitting here thinking about it. I want it to be the match of my career; that’s how important this night is to me.”
Potentially facing Ronda Rousey:
“I would love the opportunity, it’s exciting that there are so many eyes on the women’s division at the moment with her contribution and I would love to square off with her.”
