Just as it seemed things were turning around for 24-year-old Houssem Aouar, reports suggest that the French international will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks as he recovers from an injured quadriceps. Since the arrival of coach Laurent Blanc, it appeared that the midfielder had regained his spot as a starting player.

Unfit to start against Clermont the Lyon-born midfielder came off the bench in the 74th minute, but he may have not been ready to take the field. This injury will come as a blow to the player and the club. For Lyon, they are in great need of creative attacking players at the moment and Aouar will be at the end of his contract in June 2023. He needs to get back in form to regain his high stock if he decides to depart from OL, but it was also reported that the midfielder is undecided on his future.

OL does have a very manageable schedule for the next few weeks so that may help soften the blow, but it may also take Aouar time to get back in shape after being out for a few weeks. Lyon are currently in 8th place and have been dealing with several injuries. Even with the January transfer window open it has been reported that the coach and staff are not on the same page in terms of player selection.
