Ligue 1 strugglers Angers have made contact with Aston Villa over signing Jonathan Kodjia this month, according to Ouest-France.

The Ivorian striker, who is unhappy with the playing time he is receiving under new manager Dean Smith, has informed the outlet that he is “interested by the idea of finishing this season with Angers”.

A loan seems the most likely solution at this stage. Whilst multiple clubs in France and elsewhere have also contacted the player’s agent, Angers are so far the only side to have spoken directly with the Ivorian forward.

Kodjia wants a move to assure a place in the Ivory Coast’s squad for the upcoming AFCON this summer, he has no choice but to seek out guaranteed playing time.

One to watch as we enter money time…
