Premier League side West Ham United are looking for a replacement for French international attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet to bring in this month, according to today’s edition of L’Équipe.

The report states that in recent days, Marseille and West Ham have been discussing a possible deal that would see OM sign the player this month only to loan him back to the Hammers until the end of the current campaign.

Despite David Gold’s insistence that Payet is not leaving the club, West Ham are actively looking for a replacement for this month and have sounded out Swansea’s attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, having been quoted €35m in order to sign him.

Marseille is currently Payet’s preference, but a Chinese club is expected to come into the fray next week.

Following Bilic’s comments, it is difficult to see Payet ever playing for West Ham again.
