A large amount of Presidents of Ligue 1 clubs this week attempted to overthrow Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas from his position as Vice President of the LFP, the French league football association, because of a general feeling that he is abusing his position of power to give his club, Lyon, favourable treatment.
The situation became embarrassing for Aulas on Wednesday when the list that an association of the French top flight’s smaller clubs presented for their 8 nominations for presidential positions did not include the Lyon boss.
Nasser Al Khelaifi (PSG) and Vadim Vasilyev (AS Monaco) do feature on the list, but Aulas does not.

Angers SCO President Saïd Chabane had the following to say to L’Équipe on the matter:
“He has made his positions clear that have not pleased many in the last 2-3 years. But I do not think that it would be a good idea to throw him out. With Loulou Nicollin, he [Aulas] is the oldest. In 2017, he will have been at Lyon for 30 years. He has his own personality that annoys people sometimes, but we need to find a balance.”
