Schalke 04 are very much in pole position for the signing of Benjamin Stambouli from PSG, after talks between the player and Real Betis broke down of financial differences.
Galatasaray and Espanyol have contacted the player’s entourage (the Spanish side did so as recently as yesterday), but the Frenchman made it clear that he had no desire to join the Turkish side. As for Espanyol, nothing further has come of that approach thus far, according to L’Équipe.
Schalke 04 have yet to formulate a formal offer to PSG, but the French daily is confident that they will do so at the beginning of next week and that it will be worth the €8m asking price that the Ligue 1 champions have set.
After speaking to Markus Weinzierl, Stambouli has been convinced by the Schalke 04 project.
