The Uruguay star has angrily denied that he has an issue with his PSG team-mate
Edinson Cavani has blasted the media for consistently suggesting that he has a personal issue with his PSG team-mate Neymar.
Speculation about a rift between the duo has been rife ever since the pair had an on-field spat over a penalty kick in a match against Lyon in September 2017.
The pair clashed as opponents last week, as Cavani was booked for a challenge on Neymar during Uruguay’s friendly against Brazil.
Cavani was again questioned about his relationship with Neymar after Uruguay’s friendly against France on Tuesday, and the striker responded by angrily blaming the media for constant speculation.
“Neymar? You need to stop this. It’s you the media that are creating something from nothing,” Cavani said in the mixed zone after the game.
“On the outside, everybody has his own life. On the inside, everyone works for the best interests of the club.”
Tuesday was potentially an extremely damaging day for PSG, with both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe suffering injuries in their countries’ respective friendly matches.
Cavani watched Mbappe go down in France’s 1-0 win over Uruguay, and expressed his desire to see his PSG team-mate make a speedy recovery.
“Mbappe? I don’t know. I hope it’s not serious,” Cavani said. “We will need everyone to carry on.
“We played against a great French team, a world champion team. It was a difficult and intense game.
“In his type of game, you can win or lose. We lost tonight, that’s football.”
PSG return to action on Saturday against Toulouse, before facing a massive Champions League showdown with Liverpool next Wednesday.
