Kylian Mbappé made the headlines once again as PSG hosted Benfica on Tuesday evening. However, the headlines had already been written even before the start of the match, with the Frenchman’s future in the capital under the microscope.
Following a game where the Frenchman’s goal proved the most decisive moment and earned PSG a draw, Mbappé’s teammate Achraf Hakimi was found denying the claims of the forward being unhappy at the club. Speaking to RMC Sport after the game, the Moroccan wing-back said:
“We always talk about this kind of thing. I saw Kylian focused on the game and the club. We didn’t talk about that. It’s you who take things out of context. He is focused on the club, he is happy here. I see him happy, and I think that’s the most important thing.”
While Mbappé opened the scoring with a strike from the penalty spot in the 39th minute of the match, João Mário put the story back where it had begun with his spot-kick in the second half. Thanks to the draw, both PSG and Benfica remain on eight points from four games.
