This week is the #WeekOfZlatan on GFFN. Look out for new pieces every single day this week on the Swede’s time and impact in and on French football.

In accordance with a report written by Loïc Tanzl last week, we explore the possibility that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s wife Helena Seger could derail a possible move for the Swedish international this summer to Manchester United.

It is important to note that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unlikely to allow his wife to entirely make any decision on his future on her own, but there is no doubt that her thoughts will be of capital importance to him.

For several years now, Helena Seger has dreamt of going to the United States where the journalist mentioned this article believes she can see herself setting up and developing some new businesses, including the A-Z sports equipment line that her husband is launching on the 7th June.

Tanzl makes references to murmurs that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a concrete offer from an unnamed MLS side worth around €400,000 a week, close to his current salary at PSG. It is our understanding that the side in question is Philadelphia Union.

However, Seger is unlikely to settle for just any MLS outfit, with Los Angeles (an LA Galaxy representative was in Paris last week) and New York the destinations of choice until David Beckham’s Miami franchise comes to fruition in 2018. Canada is perhaps also a possibility.

So whilst today, from a financial and football point of view, Manchester United is the most likely destination, their inability to offer Champions League football and the inability of this option to provide Ibrahimovic’s family with a town where they want to live and stability (a move to Manchester United would likely be for a single season), a move to the Red Devils remains a long way off.

Ideally, for both husband and wife in the Ibrahimovic household, a two year contract extension with PSG would have been the best option before joining David Beckham’s Miami outlet.

But the French capital side decided to end the Ibrahimovic era, however the Swede might try to spin it, it was Nasser Al Khelaifi and co. who ended this association and not the other way around.
