According to Le Parisien, Newcastle United have finally agreed to allow Florian Thauvin join Marseille after reaching a deal to sign Andros Townsend from Tottenham Hotspur.

The player is due to arrive on loan at Marseille until the end of the season, now it is simply up to OM to confirm that they still want to sign the player after much deliberation from Newcastle.

Initially, Newcastle wanted to include an obligatory buy option in the loan deal in order to sell Thauvin back to Marseille at the end of the season, but NUFC have revised their demands in line with OM’s capabilities and have therefore excluded the obligatory buy option.

Now, it is all up to Marseille to go ahead with the deal or not, who might decide that the player’s high salary and the availability of other targets means that will not look to sign Thauvin after all.
