After falling short of finishing their comeback against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers are down to their last 17 games of the season. What was left of their playoff hopes is all but gone, but still, the show must go on and on this week’s shows, we dive into what we should expect from the Lakers to close out the season.
Can You Dig It?
The Lakers aren’t a particularly fun team to talk about right now. They have the second-worst winning percentage of any team since the All-Star break, they’re now 6.5 games back of the eighth seed in the Western Conference and everyone is injured.
So, instead of talking about the miserable last few days for the Lakers, we took a few questions from out listeners about everything from the upcoming free agent class to what Grant uses in his hair.
We also dug deep within ourselves to try and find something to look forward to in the final 17 games of the season, such as getting to see Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart play together for possibly the last time. No, you’re crying!

Locked on Lakers
Heading into Wednesday night’s game, Luke Walton promised that he would simply sit anyone he noticed playing selfishly. He made good on that promise as best he could without rolling with lineups of fewer than five guys, and those who played rewarded him and Lakers fans with a fun comeback.
Alex Caruso, Jonathan Williams, Moe Wagner and Josh Hart played at a level that exemplified the culture the Lakers have to build. They climbed all the way back and were a missed layup from actually tying the game at one point. If the Lakers are serious about building momentum heading into the end of this season and defining what they care about in players and people, they should reward those guys and show Rajon Rondo the door.
I discuss that at length, how Walton can use playing time as a carrot for those who are looking to secure their next contract, and plenty more. This full episode can be listened to below.
