TAMPA, FL — It was an offer Tampa Bay law enforcement K9 officers couldn’t refused.

Prior to draining and refilling its water features for the season, Adventure Island offered Tampa Bay K9 officers and their K9 partners an opportunity to do some canine water training at the water park in North Tampa on Monday, Oct. 29.

With all of the water around Tampa Bay, it is not unusual for officers and their K9 partners to search for criminals and missing persons around ponds, lakes, rivers and the bay. The annual opportunity to train at Adventure Island helps prepare the K9s for the challenges of water searches.

In addition to the training opportunity, the day at Adventure Island gives the working police dogs a chance to let their fur down and socialize with their partners and other K9s.

In addition to the Tampa Police, the Temple Terrace Police, Tampa International Airport Police, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Largo Police Department, MacDill Air Force Base, St. Petersburg Police Department, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Lakeland Police Department participated in the exercises at Adventure Island.
