One of the most memorable moments of WrestleMania 35 earlier this month came when Kofi Kingston became the new WWE Champion. Kingston won the title in a hard-fought match against Daniel Bryan and is now enjoying his first reign as world champion. Kingston’s win paid off eleven year of hard work from The New Day member, and he had a ton of supporters backstage who wanted to see him win the top title. Not only did he have support from WWE fans, but Kingston’s New Day partners, Xavier Woods and Big E, have admitted to campaigning for Kingston to become champion for years. It turns out that they played an extremely vital part in Kingston receiving his big crowning moment at WrestleMania.
Kingston took part in WWE Superstar Natalya’s newest column for the Calgary Sun, and he claimed that he would never have won the title had it not been for Woods and Big E. He noted that he was simply never positioned as a world title contender when he was on his own. After finding success with the two of them as part of The New Day, it was Woods and Big E who began pushing for Kingston to win the WWE Championship. Kingston added that The New Day is an unbreakable team, and that Woods and Big E inspired him to continue with his wrestling career. Kingston is now recognized as the 51st WWE Champion in history. The New Day is still together, but Big E is currently out of action with an injury.
“Quite simply, without The New Day, this moment does not happen. From a performance standpoint, I would have never been allowed to show my personality if I was just solo. I was rarely given a mic and rarely had any personable backstage promos pre-New Day. More importantly, I would not have had the same level of motivation that I receive through my relationship with [Xavier] Woods and [Big] E.” Kingston said.
John Cena’s acting career has continued to flourish seemingly with each passing day. It was reported earlier in the month that he had entered talks to take over the role that Dave Bautista was set to have in James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” superhero film. It now appears that Cena may join his former rival The Rock in the Fast & Furious films. Actor Vin Diesel appeared in a video with Cena and heavily teased that he will be part of the next film in the series. The Rock confirmed a while ago that he won’t be appearing in the ninth installment of the series, but he is set to star in the “Hobbs & Shaw” spinoff film this summer. There may be no better replacement than the 16-time world champion in the next film.
Thank you Pablo.
