SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier announced today the signing of five student-athletes for the 2015-16 season. Shane Siewert from Lake City, Minn., Zachary Determan of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bailey Neises from Howard, S.D., Joseph Fischenich from Windom, Minn., and Matthew Rustad from Farmington, Minn. have all signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Augustana.

Siewert will graduate from Lake City High School in 2015 as a four-year letterwinner and two-year Caption for the Tigers. He accumulated 158 career wins and 58 career falls in his four seasons with a dominate senior performance as section champion and state champion at 152-pounds. Siewert has placed three times at the Minnesota state tournament, including a fourth-place finish as a junior and a fifth-place finish as a sophomore. Siewert has also earned All-Conference four consecutive seasons.

Reitmeier on Siewert: “Shane is a hard worker on and off the mat,” Reitmeier said. “He is a great kid, great student, and great athlete. On the mat he wrestles extremely hard and gets after people. He will be a great fit at Augustana.”

Determan brings a strong high school career to Augustana where he was as a four-year letterwinner and captain at Roosevelt High School. He was an All-Conference honoree his four season for the Rough Riders compiling 170 wins and has been a member of two Conference Championship teams. Determan was a member of the runner-up team at the state tournament last season and was a part of a third-place finish at the state tournament as a sophomore.

Reitmeier on Determan: “Zach is a local kid that has been around the program for a long time,” Reitmeier said. “He puts a lot of time and effort into his wrestling and it has shown over the years. We are excited for him to join our team.”

Neises will graduate from Howard High School in 2015 as a four-year letterwinner, four-year All-Conference selection and two-year captain for the Tigers. Neises is a four-time conference champion and two-year region champion. Neises has accumulated a career 138-19 record, 61 career falls, 12 major decisions, and seven technical falls. He was a state champion his junior season and earned a runner-up finish his senior campaign. Named Flandreau Invitation MVP his senior season.

Reitmeier on Neises: “Bailey will be taking over for his brother Bradyn, who was a five year wrestler and team captain for us,” Reitmeier said. “We excited about the dedication and love for wrestling that Bailey brings to the team. He has been around our program for a long time and we are excited to finally call him a Viking.”

Fischenich joins the Augustana wrestling team from Windom, Minn. after a successful wrestling career at Windom Area High School. A projected 133/141-pounder for the Vikings, Fischenich is a four-year letterwinner and three-year captain for the Cobras. Fischenich has accumulated a 135-49 career record with 46 career pins. In his senior season and won the section 3A championship and finished third at state.

Reitmeier on Fischenich: “Joe has had an excellent high school career and has continued to improve each and every year, “Reitmeier said. “We believe that he has a very high ceiling and will do great things for our program.”

Rustad will join the Augustana wrestling team after accumulating over 100 career wins and 50 pins for Farmington High School. He is a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain and was named South Suburban All-Conference his senior season. Hailing from Farmington, Minn., Rustad was named Outstanding Wrestler his senior and junior season.

Reitmeier on Rustad: “Cowboy is going to bring a lot of toughness and hard work to our team,” Reitmeier said. “He is a hard nose kid like his name implies and we are looking forward to getting some of that toughness in our room.”

These five Vikings join Gable Verschoor and Duncan Stoebner who signed with Augustana in the early signing period.

Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
