Today’s podcasts react to a hugely disappointing loss that sent the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers into the All-Star Break under .500. Luke Walton will get a ton of attention, but the problems go far beyond him.

Show Tiempo

Alex and Jordan are back with another episode of “Show Tiempo.” Unfortunately for them, they recorded right after the Lakers’ loss to the Hawks. They talk about the terrible defensive performance on Tuesday, and in the team’s last 16 games. The Lakers have been the worst ranked team on defense in the NBA in that span.

They also discuss if James should be shut down for the rest of the season, or if they still have hope the Lakers can make a playoff push. The Lakers sit two and a half games out of eighth place after Tuesday’s game.

And is Walton going to be the head coach of the Lakers when they come back from the All-Star break? Alex and Jordan discuss if Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have seen enough from Walton’s inconsistent team, or if he should be given the rest of the season to see if he can build some positivity before season end.

Then, Jordan pleads to LeBron to legally tamper with his entire All Star team this weekend. LeBron drafted many 2019 summer free agents and Jordan would love to have LeBron pitch to them the idea of joining forces in Los Angeles.

Locked on Lakers

Losing to the Hawks feels like a low point of the season, but if there’s anything we’ve learned over the last few years, it’s that things can always get worse. Pete and I discuss Walton on today’s episode.

We start by talking about how we got here, then discuss which context Jeanie Buss will point to if she continues to defend Walton. The final segment discusses how the issues with the organization go far beyond Walton or even the front office that might be tasked with replacing him.
