As we all know by now, John Cena was moved to Raw from Smackdown Live after last Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam PPV. It was previously reported that John Cena would make this move as part of his free agent status. According to the latest reports and an article Justin Barrasso had with Sports Illustrated, there was one major reason WWE decided to move John Cena from Smackdown to Raw and this is because of Vince McMahon’s desire to use John Cena to elevate Roman Reigns.
The article also says that while there is no doubt that Cena’s move to Raw will be a huge factor to the show’s ratings, it is more about who Cena is going to draw ratings with and Roman Reigns is at the top of the list.
The decision to move John Cena was pretty much cemented once Vince McMahon decided that he wanted to build towards a match with Roman Reigns in the near future. Now with John Cena switching brands, he has a line of fresh new opponents, including Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman.
