As promised, on Thursday evening, WWE announced Brock Lesnar’s official opponent for his WWE pay-per-view in-ring return next month.
As was rumored for more than a few days now, it will, in fact, be Randy Orton standing across the ring from “The Beast Incarnate” at the August pay-per-view event.
“The Viper” will be returning following a lengthy hiatus from WWE action when he competes against Lesnar at SummerSlam, as he has been on the sidelines with serious injuries, and later recovering from surgeries and rehab for well over a year.
It’s worth noting that while WWE is officially advertising the Lesnar-Orton bout for SummerSlam, which they announced on Thursday night’s edition of SmackDown, nothing is actually official until Lesnar leaves the Octagon after his UFC return bout against Mark Hunt at this Saturday’s UFC 200 pay-per-view without any injuries that would prevent him from stepping inside the squared circle in August.
WWE SummerSlam is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
