After weeks of uncertainty and conflicting reports surrounding Dolph Ziggler’s potential SummerSlam opponent, WWE has now officially confirmed that the “Showoff” will be facing The Miz at this year’s summer classic.
Ziggler crashed a segment of Miz TV last Tuesday night on Smackdown Live, trashing Shawn Michaels for coming out of retirement for a terrible match in Saudi Arabia last year, and constantly parading out for nostaglia shows. His words, not mine. The segment ended with a physical altercation, and Ziggler dropping the WWE Hall of Famer with a taste of his own Sweet Chin Music.
There has been a lot of talk as to who he may be facing at this year’s SummerSlam, and in fact the Wrestling Observer Newsletter even specifically reported that Miz was NOT scheduled to wrestle Ziggler at the show.
Goldberg’s name has been thrown around in almost every single Ziggler promo over the past 3-4 weeks, and with Michaels being attacked last week, a singles match with The Miz was probably far from some people’s dream scenario.
