This Friday’s episode of Impact Wrestling ended with a major twist to the world title picture.
In a move apparently months in the making, Impact World Champion Johnny Impact and his wife, Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie, sprung a trap on the #1 contender to the world title, Brian Cage.
While the two were set to do battle for the title in the show’s main event, Impact’s resident psychopath Killer Kross would drag Johnny Impact’s unconscious body to the ring in one hand, and a cinder block in the other.
While Cage would eventually come to the rescue, the Machine was caught off guard by a low blow from Valkyrie, and Impact immediately jumped to his feet, revealing that he was never attacked to begin with.

This surprising heel turn, which ultimately resulted in the total and brutal destruction of Cage, sets up two important matches for the promotion’s next major pay-per-view event, Impact Rebellion on Sunday, April 29th.
While Cage will likely get his Impact World Championship opportunity against Johnny Impact at the show, a new #1 contender to the Knockouts Championship was also crowned in Jordynne Grace.
